Vera Larina, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Internal Medicine, Head of Department of Outpatient Medicine, Faculty of General Medicine, at Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University (Moscow, Russian Federation).

Professor Larina is a member of the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Internal Medicine, the member of EFIM Critical Appraisal of Guidelines in Internal Medicine Working Group (since 2022), the Board Member of the Russian Scientific Medical Society of Internal Medicine (since 2022).

Professor Larina’s main research interests are concentrated on the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases with a special focus on mechanisms involved in progression of heart failure with different phenotypes, cardiovascular risk, hypertension. Furthermore, she is interested in Geriatric Medicine, including frailty, multimorbidity and therapy adherence. She is also involved in investigation of the post-covid syndrome prevention.

Experience in clinical trials: more than 50 clinical trials in Heart Failure, Hypertension, Atrial Fibrillation, Dyslipidemia, Diabetes, Respiratory Infection (II-IV phases) since 1996 as co-investigator, study coordinator and principal investigator (including СIBIS II, LIVE, CIBIS III, PRESERVE, RED-HF, ACTIVE I+A, FAIR-HF, FER-CARS-02, FER-CARS-05, ROADMAP, CORONA, ATHENA, PALLAS, ENGAGE AF-TIMI, AVERROES, FOURIER, REDUCE-IT, THEMIS etc.).

Professor Larina is also a lecturer on specific aspects of internal medicine and cardiology, academic supervisor of residents, postgraduate students.

Professor Larina has authored more than 100 scientific articles and text-books for students, several books and book chapters related to heart failure, ambulatory medicine and multimorbidity.
