Serhat Bor is a MD and Professor in Gastroenterology & Internal Medicine at Ege University School of Medicine Div. Gastroenterology, Izmir, Turkey. Dr. Bor is a specialist in Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, Gastrointestinal Motility and Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders with more than 113 peer reviewed publications and textbook chapters, he has lectured at more than 300 national and international meetings. He perfoms many basic, translational and clinical research projects mainly in GERD and esophageal epithelium as well as other functional GI disorders. He and his collaborators have been organizing hands-on motility courses mainly supported by UEG educational grants in Izmir. According to Google Scholar his h-index is 35 and citations are 5175 (August, 2023).
He was the Dean of Ege University School of Medicine and Head of Turkish Medical Schools Dean’s Association from 2008 to 2011. Afterwards he became the President of Neurogastroenterology & Motility Study Group of Turkish Society of Gastroenterology for four years and Steering Committee Councillor of European Society of Neurogastroenterology & Motility, an ongoing position. He was the National Representative at UEGF on behalf of Turkish Society of Gastroenterology between 2011-2021 and Meeting of Members Member at UEG Federation from 2012. He was the President of Turkish Society of Gastroenterology between 2015-2019. He was also Co-president of World Congress of Gastroenterology in Istanbul on September 2019 and president of this year’s National GI Meeting. Dr Bor is the division head of Ege University Dept of Gastroenterology.
