Robin P. Peeters, MD PhD

Professor Robin Peeters is head of the Department of Internal Medicine at Erasmus MC, The Netherlands. He obtained his medical degree at Erasmus MC in 2000 (Cum Laude) and his PhD in 2005 (Cum Laude). In 2009, he performed a research-fellowship with Douglas Forrest at the National Institutes of Health, USA.

His principle research interests are the regulation of thyroid hormone bioactivity, thyroid cancer and thyroid dysfunction during pregnancy and aging.

He is a former memver of the Executive Committee Member of the European Society of Endocrinology and the European Thyroid Association and is currently President of the Dutch Internist Society. He was awarded the ETA Harrington-de Visscher Prize in 2013, the ATA Van Meter Award in 2016, and the British Thyroid Association Pitt Rivers Award Lecture in 2018.

Dr. Peeters has published more than 370 peer-reviewed scientific publications (including senior authorships in journals like NEJM, Lancet, and JAMA) and is a member of the editorial board of several endocrine journals.
