Dr Laurent Fauchier is a Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Cardiology Department of the University Hospital of Tours. His areas of interest and clinical research relate to the epidemiology of cardiac arrhythmias, risk stratification methods for cardiovascular mortality and sudden death, electrophysiological studies of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, as well as heart failure and cardiomyopathies. It also includes work on pharmacological treatments in cardiology or non-pharmacological treatments by cardiac pacing and defibrillation or by ablation for cardiac arrhythmias. He is Fellow of the European society of Cardiology, Member of the Nominating Committee of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), Member of the board of the French Society of Cardiology, Past-president of the Working Group on Pacing and Arrhythmias of the French Society of Cardiology. He has worked on the writing of international task force documents and guidelines and has published over 500 articles in peer reviewed journals and is reviewer or on the editorial board of more than 20 leading medical journals.
