Julio Mayol serves as a Professor of Surgery at the Complutense University of Madrid. He was the Medical Director of the San Carlos Clinical Hospital from 2016 to 2023. Since 2010, he has also been leading the Innovation Unit at the San Carlos Health Research Institute (IdSSC).
Prof. Mayol was the Head of the Colorectal Surgery Section at the San Carlos Clinical Hospital until 2016. His work extends to medical innovation, focusing on integrating new technologies and social media to enhance patient engagement and information dissemination. He contributes to the medical community as editor of Surgery and as a member of the editorial committees of various medical journals (Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, World Journal of Gastroenterology, and Turkish Journal of Surgery).
