Current President of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (SEMI) and the Spanish Fundation of Internal Medicine (FEMI)

My main areas of interest are metabolic diseases, obesity and malnutrition in patients admitted to hospital and their influence on the short and long term prognosis.

I am currently developing my professional work at the Internal Medicine Department of the Badajoz University Hospital. Likewise, I coordinate the obesity clinic associated with Internal Medicine department.

As a post-academic training I have one Master´s degree on Nutrition and other one on Obesity; Additionally, in a complementary way, I have training in management of clinical units and Methodology in clinical research.

I collaborate as coordinator and teacher of the MASTER IN DIABETES IN DAILY CLINICAL PRACTICE (Module 5, Chapter 24. “Obesity and its complications. Obesity. OSA. Hepatic steatosis. “Hypogonadism.” SEMI-Menarini Chair. University of Barcelona.

On SEMI Training Platform, I collaborate as Direction and teaching accredited courses in the area of nutrition, diabetes, research and vascular risk. Director of SEMI Nutrition School.

I have 90 publications in scientific journals indexed in my areas of interest, in addition to numerous talks and conferences at national and international conferences.
