Director of the Internal Medicine IV Department and of the Systemic Immune Mediated Diseases Unit at Hospital Fernando Fonseca (HFF). 

Professor of Medicine at NOVA medical School, Lisbon, Portugal.

Principal Investigator of the “Immune response and Vascular Disease Research Group” of NMS Research.

Member of the Scientific Committee of the Autoimmune Diseases Study Group of the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine, and President of the Autoimmune Diseases Study Group (NEDAI) of the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine

Scientific advisor to the Portuguese Health Administration Agency (DGS) since 2009 and to INFARMED (Portuguese Drug Agency) since 2014.

Chairman of the Experts Committee of ECRIN (European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network) and member of the EBIM (European Board of Internal Medicine).

More than 120 original articles, published in peer-review journals with and h-factor of 29.
