On January 26, 1993, he obtained a degree in Internal Medicine.

From 01-01-1995, he is Hospital Assistant of Internal Medicine in the General Hospital of Santo António, Hospital and University Center of Porto, having since 2016 the degree of Assistant Senior Graduate.

Lecturer since 1995, in the chair of Clinical Medicine II (6th Professional Year), currently as Associate Professor of Medicine of the Integrated Masters in Medicine of ICBAS / CHP.

From May 2000 until May 2009, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the College of Internal Medicine, having held the position of President in the last 3 years.

He is part of the Clinical Immunology Unit of the HGSA, officially created in May 2005, being responsible for the Behçet Disease Cohort

Chief of Emergency Team since October 2005 to December 2020.

Director of the Internal Medicine Service of the Hospital Center of Porto from 2009 to 2023 and Advisor to the Directorate of the Department of Medicine since June 2009.
Past President of the Specialty College of Internal Medicine

President of the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine since June 2018 to September 2021.

Director of the Department Pregraduate Course of Medicine since May 2023.
