Emil Fosbøl heads a department for valvular heart diseases at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, and this is also his focus in research. Dr Fosbøl is especially engaged in infective endocarditis where he is an international expert. The ESC guidelines on infective endocarditis were just published this year and Dr Fosbøl served as a task force member on these guidelines. He has won several international lecture competitions, received the Danish Ministry’s EliteForsk award 2021, the Lundbeck Foundation’s talent prize, and last year raised 7 million Euro for research into heart valve disease. Emil Fosbøl has published over 70 papers on heart valve disease in recent years. Overall, he has published over 370 peer-reviewed papers and has a H-index of 52.
