Arzu TOPELI, MD, MSc is a Professor of Medicine and Intensive Care, Chairperson of Department of Internal Medicine, Medical Intensive Care Unit and Sepsis Research Center in Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Ankara, Turkiye. She is the Chairperson of the 16th World Intensive and Critical Care Congress on 26-30 Aug 2023, in Istanbul. She is the Chief Editor of Journal of Critical and Intensive Care. She served as the Founder President of the Society of Turkish Intensivists (2005-2008) and currently the council member. She was in the Council of the World Federation of Intensive and Critical Care (2013-2019; Treasurer 2017-2019). She was the Founder Program Director of the Multidisciplinary Intensive Care Training Program in Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine where 36 intensive care physicians had graduated, 19 of them being women (2013-2019). She served as the Deputy Chairperson of Health Services Research and Outcome Section and Research Committee of European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (2019-2022). Her main interest areas are acute respiratory failure; post-intensive care syndrome; intensive care infections; ICU organisation, staffing; quality of care; rapid response system; intensive care epidemiology and outcome.
