Nikolaos Tentolouris received his medical degree from the Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Athens, Greece in 1986 and his specialty title in Internal Medicine in 1997. He worked in the field of diabetes mellitus, metabolic and endocrine diseases at the University of Manchester (Manchester Royal Infirmary), UK (1997-1998). He received the title of subspecialty in diabetes mellitus in 2019. He worked as a Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and from 2018 as a full Professor of Medicine at the 1st Department of Internal Medicine at the Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Laiko General Hospital, in Athens. Since 2007 he has been the Director of the Diabetes Center at the same Hospital. He has participated in scientific and organizational committees of many international and national conferences, is a member of the Editorial Board in 4 medical journals and a consultant-reviewer in 82 international journals. He is the Coordinator of the Graduate Program of the School of Medicine of the University of Athens entitled “Diabetes Mellitus-Obesity”. He contributed in 7 International and 8 Greek multi-authored medical books on diabetes and Internal Medicine. His research work includes more than 320 publications in international journals that have more than 15,000 references in the international bibliography and h-index 58 (Google Scholar). He is the president of the Hellenic Society of Internal Medicine, and he served as Scientific Secretary of the Diabetic Foot Study Group (DFSG) for 6 years and member of the Executive Committee of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) (2016-2018).
