Margus Lember is Professor of Internal Medicine, University of Tartu, Estonia.
He graduated from the University of Tartu in 1985, received PhD at the University of Tartu in 1990 and DrMed Sci at the University of Tampere, Finland 1998. He is the Fellow of ACP and EFIM(Hon). He is a past president of the Estonian Society of Internal medicine. He has been the president of the Estonian Society of Family Physicians 1996-2001. Since 2000 he is the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at the Tartu University. He was the Vice-dean on residency training 2006-2016 and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tartu 2016-2023.
The main areas of research have been devoted to the health outcomes in chronic diseases, metabolic diseases, reforms in health care and medical education. More than 200 publications in international and national peer-reviewed journals. The main teaching responsibilities are in teaching physical examination and communication skills for medical students, general internal medicine for residents, methodology of research and publications for PhD students. He has been a consultant of the World Bank Health projects in medical education and primary care in several countries of Europe and Asia.
