Dr. Yavuz received her medical degree from the Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical faculty and completed an endocrinology fellowship at the Marmara University School of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey.
Dr. Yavuz has a long-standing clinical and research interest in the fields of diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis, and bone disorders. She is a frequent guest speaker at national and international meetings on various topics related to the treatment of diabetes and metabolic disorders. She has authored over 100 manuscripts and book chapters.
She is the head of the Department of Internal Medicine at Marmara University Medical School of Medicine and Director of the Obesity Center of Marmara University Pendik Hospital which is one of the EASO’s ‘Collaborating Centres for Obesity Management.
Prof Yavuz was an elected executive board member of the Turkish Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism and an active member of the European Endocrine Society and the Turkish Society of Internal Medicine
Prof Yavuz is the deputy editor of Endocrine Research and Practice and the previous Editor-in-chief of the Marmara Medical Journal.
As the Director of the Department of Internal Medicine and Section of Endocrinology of Marmara University, Dr. Yavuz carries a balanced approach to clinical management and pursuing multidisciplinary research. She is currently the principal investigator in more than a dozen clinical trials in the diabetes, atherosclerosis, and metabolic bone disorders area. She remains involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
